Jason Douglas

Head Coach

Coach Jason Douglas played 4 years of basketball at Archbishop Stepinac High School. As a captain of the varsity basketball team he was MVP and earned All-League honors his senior year. Jason then went on to play college basketball at Mercy College on a athletic scholarship. Coach Jason started coaching at St. Eugene's Grammar school in 2003. There he coached his 8th grade team to a 10-3 record winning the CYO "A" division. In 2005 he then became an assistant coach at Archbishop Stepinac High School for the JV and Freshman basketball teams.

In 2011 Coach Jason, as Head Coach of the Stepinac HS Freshman Basketball Team, successfully led his team on to win the CHSAA Championship for his division.

Coach Jason started with the Knights in 2005 when the organization was first established. He has been the head coach of multiple age groups and has won many tournament championships over the years. In 2009 he led the 17 & under team to qualify for D-2 Nationals. Every year Coach Jason adds more to the Knights Basketball and is an asset to all of the Teams and Coaches.

Success of the Knights organization can be attributed to Coach Jason's dedication, hard work, knowledge and experience. His enthusiasm for the game is evident in his coaching style.

Pete Befi

Head Coach

Coach Pete Befi has been coaching with Knights Basketball for the past 7 years. Pete was an exceptional football player when he was at Iona Prep. He is Assistant Varsity Football Coach with Woodlands HS and has had great success with the program there.

Pete was the Assistant Head Coach of the 15U team that went on to finish in the Final Four D3 National Championships in 2010. Coach Pete's team in 2011 was the AAU Super Regional Champions in the tri state area.

He is an intelligent coach that always motivates his players to new levels. Pete's teams are always representative of Knights Basketball and we are proud to have him with us.

Lou Cicillini

Coach Lou Cicillini began his coaching career at St. Eugene's in Yonkers in 1999. He coached at St Eugene's until 2005 and has since returned for a second stint, along side Coach Jerome, starting in 2008 – present. He coached Iona Prep's JV team during the 2006-2007 season to a 25-2 record before losing in the city semi-finals. Many of these same players went on to play on the Iona Prep Varsity Basketball team and won the NY State Championships in 2009. Many of these players are now playing basketball in various college programs.

This is Coach Lou's 8th year with the Knights. He has served as a Knights Head Coach each season, and has coached many different age groups. In 2009 Coach Lou's 15U team qualified and attended the AAU Division III National Championships in Virginia. In 2010 his team qualified for the D2 National Championships in Orlando, Florida. In 2012 Lou's 7th grade team reached the Final Four of the Division III Regional tournament and qualified for the Division III National Championships in Virginia.

Coach Lou's success can be measured by the great number of his players that have make their HS team and who are now getting additional playing time.

Rob Metz

Coach Rob Metz played 2 years of varsity basketball at Iona Prep and contributed to the Gaels run to the 2001-2002 CHSAA City Championship and State Finals Appearance. He began his coaching career at St. Eugene's in Yonkers coaching for 3 years from 2005-2007.

This is Coach Rob's 7th year with the Knights, serving as an assistant on the 2007 13 and Under team, 2008 14 and Under team, and Head Coach of the 2009 13 and Under team. Coach Rob was the leader of the exceptional 14U team in 2010.

Coach Rob's dedication and hard work is evident in everything he does.

Mike Vitale

Coach Mike Vitale played 2 years of varsity basketball at Iona Prep and contributed to the Gaels run to the 2001-2002 CHSAA City Championship and State Finals Appearance. He began his coaching career at St. Patrick's in Bedford coaching the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Coach Mike has coached at St. Joseph's in Croton Falls, St. Augustine's in Ossining, and Archbishop Stepinac. He also has experience broadcasting basketball at his alma mater Fairfield University and formerly was the lead play-by-play analyst for Pace University.

This is Coach Mike's 7th year with the Knights. His 2012 9th grade team finished 5th in the D3 National Championships in Virginia defeating the eventual National Champion in pool play before losing to the runner-up in the Elite 8 Round. His 2011 8th grade and 2010 7th grade teams also advanced to the Championship brackets in the D3 National Tournament. His 2013 Team was equally impressive in the D2 Nationals in Orlando, which finished as one of the top 10 teams in the country.

Coach Mike is an asset to our organization. He is devoted to his responsibilities and always sustains a high level of achievement

Dan Olimpio

Coach Dan Olimpio played Knights for 3 consecutive years. He was captain of the Iona Preparatory Varsity Basketball team in his senior year of high school in 2007. From 2007-2011 Dan was a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute D3 Football team. In the spring of 2011 Dan graduated from RPI with a major in Business Management and a minor in Psychology.

Coach Dan was the head coach of the 2012 14U team that won multiple tournament championships and was an assistant coach on the 2012 15U who made the Elite Eight at AAU Nationals in Hampton, Virginia. He currently coaches a CYO team in Bronxville NY.

Dan's competitive nature and thorough knowledge of sports is exceptional. He is an athlete, leader and positive role model for all of our players.

john

John Vitale

John played basketball for four years at Iona Preparatory in New Rochelle, NY playing in the CHSAA league. John started his coaching career as a senior in high school coaching at St. John and Paul. He then went on to coach the Fairfield Prep freshman team for three years while attending Fairfield University. John also coached for the Connecticut Premier Hoops Development program, an AAU team based out of Fairfield, CT. He played for the Knights for 3 years in high school and has been coaching with the Knights since 2007. In 2010, 2011, and 2012 he coached as an assistant on Coach Michael Vitale's Knights Teams that made exceptional appearances in the D3 National AAU tournament in Virginia. John was the head coach of the 7th grade team last year which played very well in the D3 Tournament in Hampton Virginia. He currently is coaching a 8th grade CYO Team in Ossining, NY.

Coach John has excellent working knowledge of basketball. His experience on the court has proven helpful in many situations and he can be counted on to teach players the right way to play basketball.

Ken Olimpio

Coach Ken Olimpio had played for the Knights for 6 straight years. He was on the Iona Preparatory Varsity Basketball team who won the CHSAA City and State Championships. In 2010 his last minute efforts made Iona Prep the champions of the Slam Dunk Tournament at the Westchester County Center. Coach Ken was the Head Coach of the Iona Grammar 3rd grade boy's basketball team in 2010 before going to Fairleigh Dickinson College in NJ, where he will graduate this spring. He has been a camp counselor at the Iona Prep Basketball Camp for the past three years and one of the head coaches for the Knights for the past two years.

Ken's recent experience on the court will help players tremendously.

Brian Douglas

Assistant Coach

Brian Douglas was a stand-out player at Stepinac High School in both basketball and football. Additionally, he played AAU with the Knights prior to being Assistant Coach. He recently graduated from Marist College and will be returning to the Knights again this year to help coach our Knights Teams.

Brian brings both knowledge and experience to our organization and his return after the spring semester will add enthusiasm and recent court experience to the team.

Kevin Kennedy

Assistant Coach

Coach Kevin Kennedy played 3 years of varsity basketball at Quince Orchard High School in Maryland. As a captain of the varsity basketball team, during his junior and senior year, Kevin was named MVP and recognized with all-conference honors after his senior year. Kevin then went on to play 4 years of college basketball at Gettysburg College. During his freshman season, the Bullets made it to the DIII "Sweet Sixteen" and finished with a 24-5 record. Kevin served as a captain his senior year. In 2011, Kevin graduated from Gettysburg with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management.

Kevin moved from Maryland to the Westchester area in the summer of 2011 to begin a career with Hudson Valley Bank. He served as the assistant coach of the 7th grade team last year with Coach John and will be continuing with Knights Basketball in the 2014 season. Kevin currently serves as an assistant coach for a CYO team in Bronxville.
